What Up! I got a riddle for you:
Q: what’s 5-11, ACC Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, University of Virginia’s all time leading scorer (breaking Dawn Staley’s record) AND from the DMV. (Woodbridge,VA to be exact)
A: a BEAST aka Monica Wright
Not to be confused with Love & Basketball, but the stories are quite similar.
Monica aka Monni was drafted to the WNBA, #2 Overall to the Minnesota Lynx.
This is something to be proud of if you had the privilage of going to the same school, living in the same area, or graduating the same class as a professional basketball player. I’m sure some of ya’ll can actually relate. ( especially Forest Park HS, Class of 2006…#POW)
I remember playin’ against this girl in middle school, and how much of a MONSTA she was back then. The tallest girl on the team running the point, and she had my squad shook on the low. lol
My senior year of high school was a blower, especially my “Blue Day” lunches. However, Monica and Janelle always made them interesting. If it wasn’t for them 2, I don’t know what I would’ve did during 5th period lol.
Its no surprise that Monni would end up playing professional ball one day.
She’s a “real life “ testament/example that DREAMS become REALITY, with hard work and perseverance.
